Illinois CU system empowers more to Join Open Your Eyes campaign

December 20, 2019

The Illinois Credit Union League and LSC® are excited to announce that LSC is making a significant contribution towards the launch of Open Your Eyes to a Credit Union® in Illinois. This latest contribution brings the total pledged by LSC to $500,000, including a $150,000 initial contribution from LSC in 2018.

This year, LSC is making two payments - the first for $150,000 will pay for 187 Illinois credit unions to be a part of the initiative and the second contribution for $200,000 to support the Illinois campaign launch in early 2020. All contributors gain access to specialized campaign marketing resources.

The national campaign is now live in 14 states and 42 Illinois credit unions have rallied to launch the campaign in Illinois.

“I am thankful our League and LSC Boards of Directors have been so supportive of the awareness initiative, including being early contributors and permitting our organization to push the fundraising over the finish line for a January 2020 launch in Illinois”,  said ICUL President/CEO Tom Kane. “Since LSC provides payment services to small and mid-sized credit unions all across the country, we are excited our contribution will enable nearly 190 credit unions with assets under $100 million in Illinois to participate in this amazing national awareness campaign,”

“We are excited to have Illinois credit unions join the Open Your Eyes to a Credit Union campaign. The leadership of the Illinois Credit Union League and the commitment of credit unions will make a tremendous difference in raising consumer consideration of our industry,” said CUNA’s Chief Credit Union Awareness Officer, Chris Lorence.

“I find it thrilling that LSC will make another contribution in 2019 to the campaign. During my many years of leadership in the credit union industry, I have witnessed the positive impact of credit unions on their members and communities. It is an honor for LSC to serve credit unions by contributing to the campaign. I look forward to seeing the results of this targeted, digital-first program here in Illinois,” says LSC President Libby Calderone.
