The House of Representatives this week voted to name the U.S. Postal Service facility in Farmville, N.C. the Walter B. Jones Jr. Post Office, after the late Rep. Walter Jones (R-N.C.). Jones, who passed away in February 2019, was a lifelong resident of Farmville, N.C.
A longtime champion of the credit union movement, Jones was bestowed with the moniker “Credit Union Jones,” which he wore with pride.
CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle and Jones served together in House of Representatives from 1995 to 2007.
