CUNA announced Monday election results for its Board of Directors Executive Committee Members during the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference. Troy Stang, president/CEO of the Northwest Credit Union Association (NWCUA), was elected CUNA Board Chairman. Stang will address CUNA GAC Tuesday morning for the first time as Board Chairman, and his remarks will be streamed live on CUNA’s Facebook page at approximately 10:30 a.m. (ET).

“Troy served the organization well during his tenure as the Vice Chairman of our CUNA board,” said Jim Nussle, CUNA President/CEO. “I want to welcome Troy to his new role. I know CUNA will benefit greatly from the experience and energy he will bring to the position. I also want to thank our outgoing Chairman Brett Martinez for his excellent leadership and contributions to the credit union movement.”

Stang joined the then-Credit Union Association of Oregon in 2008 and has served on the CUNA Board since 2013.

“I am honored to be elected as Chair of the CUNA Board of Directors, in service to the movement,” Stang said. “The real, tangible value not-for-profit, cooperative credit unions generate and deliver to diverse memberships and communities across our great nation is what makes these financial institutions so different. There is no other financial services model that is directly accountable to those it serves. I am committed to inspiring collaboration throughout the industry to ensure the cooperative charter credit unions operate under is advanced and protected.”

The Board of Directors Executive Committee Members for 2020 are:

  • Chairman: Troy Stang, NWCUA president/CEO;
  • Vice Chairman Brad Green, president/CEO, Listerhill CU;
  • Secretary Tony Budet, president/CEO University FCU;
  • Treasurer Lisa Ginter, CEO CommunityAmerica; and
  • At-large member Caroline Willard, president/CEO of the Cornerstone Credit Union League.

The Executive Committee Members steer CUNA throughout the year. They are supported by directors that represent the diversity of the credit union movement. The newly elected members will serve through the 2021 Annual General Meeting.
