Coronavirus: CUNA joins FS-ISAC for web exercise March 12

March 9, 2020
Coronavirus

The Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC), in conjunction with CUNA and other financial trade organizations, will host a webinar-based exercise Thursday, March 12 from 10 a.m. to noon (ET). The goal of this exercise is to give institutions an opportunity to practice and adapt their technology and cybersecurity resiliency plans for large-scale, work-from-home scenarios in the event they are quickly needed.

Registration is currently open for the free webinar.

FS-ISAC and the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) have been operating in a “split operations/work-from-home” mode in their respective Singapore offices for many weeks and will draw on their own experiences, as well as best practices derived from past pandemic exercises and members’ current best practices.

During the webinar, subject matter experts will provide insights on each of five topics as the basis of discussion. Each topic will include a limited set of pre-defined questions designed to elicit key information.

Additionally, certain benchmarking data will also be gathered from participants via a survey tool for real-time feedback.

Following the exercise, responses to these survey questions, along with the recorded webinar itself, will be made available to all participants.

The topics are:

  • Topic 1: Country/local escalation levels, led by Brian Hansen, executive director, FS-ISAC APAC and Greg Gist, VP exercise programs, FS-ISAC;
  • Topic 2: Technology for widescale work-from-home, led by Amanda Cody, chief information security officer, FS-ISAC;
  • Topic 3: Regulatory issues and business challenges of work-from-home, led by Tom Wagner, managing director, Financial Services Operations, SIFMA;
  • Topic 4: Human capital challenges, led by Hansen and Amy Boerner, director, Human Resources, FS-ISAC; and
  • Topic 5: Second-wave planning, led by Gist.

The webinar will close with a question-and-answer session from attendees.

CUNA has also launched a coronavirus resource page, which will be updated as necessary with business continuity recommendations and information about CUNA/CUNA Council conferences and events.
