League, CU leaders talk COVID-19 relief efforts on local radio

April 1, 2020
Coronavirus

League and credit union leaders around the country are using a variety of methods to make sure members and communities know their credit union is waiting to help them through the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, including their local radio waves. Many of these leaders have appeared on local radio as another avenue to share information about services.

They also highlighted CUNA’s recent article on ways consumers can exercise caution during the COVID-19 pandemic. The article itself has achieved widespread distribution across the country, including being picked up by more than 120 news outlets with a combined reach of more than 100 million.

Radio appearances in recent days include:

  • Andrea Dose, director of member services at the Iowa Credit Union League, appeared on Radio Iowa March 25 and WHO-AM March 26;
  • Scott Simpson, president/CEO of the Utah Credit Union League, was on Salt Lake City Cumulus radio stations March 25;
  • Caroline Willard, president CEO of the Cornerstone Credit Union League, appeared on Ada, Okla.’s KNCP March 26;
  • Ron McLean, president/CEO of the Cooperative Credit Union Association, appeared on Bosotn’s WWBX March 26;
  • Geri LaChance, president/CEO of SESLOC FCU, appeared on San Luis Opispo Calif.’s KCBX March 27; and
  • Jennifer Binkley, president/CEO of Altura CU, appeared on Riverside, Calif.’s KFRG March 27.

Both League and credit union leaders are still appearing on radio this week and in the near future to continue to keep the public informed on what credit unions can do to help as employment and other financial fallout continues due to the pandemic.
