CU leaders continue radio, TV appearances to highlight COVID-19 services

April 12, 2020

Credit union leaders around the country continued their engagement with local media, including radio and television, to let consumers know credit unions remain open for business and are ready to serve members through the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Leagues and credit unions also appeared on stations across the country in March.

While the discussion varied from interview to interview, all credit union leaders made sure to assure audiences that their funds are safe in insured accounts, and members should contact their credit union with any issues and concerns to see what solutions can be worked out.

Appearances in recent weeks include:

  • Mark Cummins, president/CEO of the Minnesota Credit Union Network, appeared on Minneapolis’ KTLF-AM March 30;
  • Paul Mercer, president of the Ohio Credit Union League, spoke with Cleveland’s WTUZ-FM March 31;
  • Caroline Willard, president/CEO of the Cornerstone Credit Union League, appeared on KKVI-AM in Dallas March 31;
  • Matt Gendon, chief engagement officer at ENT CU, appeared on Colorado Springs’ KRDO-FM March 31;
  • Bill Partain, CEO at Sharonview FCU, interviewed on Charlotte, N.C.’s local CBS affiliate, WBTV-TV March 31;
  • Dan McCue, senior vice president of corporate relations at Alaska USA FCU, went on Anchorage’s CBS affiliate, KTVA, to discuss loan deferrals and other COVID-19 relief options for consumers March 31;
  • Jennifer Binkley, president/CEO Altura CU, appeared on KVCR-FM in Riverside, Calif. March 31 to talk about misconceptions about money in insured accounts
  • Tom Kane, president/CEO of the Illinois Credit Union League, appeared on Chicago’s WCPT-AM March 31;
  • Crystal Long, president/CEO of GECU, appeared on El Paso’s ABC affiliate KVIA March 31;
