Suffolk Federal Credit Union’s $7500 donation to the Greater Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce will provide meals to local medical workers.

Credit unions are providing much-needed charitable assistance for their communities during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Some of the ways they’re serving their communities:

Suffolk Federal Credit Union, Medford, N.Y., presented a check for $7,500 to the Greater Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce to benefit “Healthcare Heroes” at local hospitals. The donation will provide meals to hospital staff while giving a much-needed economic boost to local restaurants.

Blue Federal Credit Union, Cheyenne, Wyo., and the Blue Foundation have pledged $200,000 to nine community nonprofit organizations. “It’s not what you have, but what you share. I’m beyond blessed to be able to lead an organization of ‘do gooders’ coming together in a unified way that is critical to us all winning together,” says Stephanie Teubner, Blue Federal president/CEO.

“I am proud of the Blue Foundation and Blue Federal Credit Union for stepping up significantly to assist our communities in their greatest time of need,” adds Bruce Brady, Blue Foundation Board president.

PSECU, Harrisburg, Pa., will provide a $25,000 donation to Pennsylvania food banks as they face increased demand due to COVID-19. The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank will receive $10,000 to support people in need, and Feeding Pennsylvania will receive $15,000 to disburse among its eight food bank partners.

Ent Credit Union, Colorado Springs, Colo., is giving away $50,000 to pandemic-impacted local businesses during its “We Love Small Business Giveaway.”

“While we’ve provided nearly $1.4 million in increased business line of credit support for business members through our COVID-19 Relief Programs, we recognize that small businesses are the backbone of communities across Colorado, and some of the worst hurt by the current crisis,” says Jennifer Sussman, Ent’s chief marketing officer. “In support of the Colorado community, we’re asking people across Colorado to nominate any worthy Front Range small business for a cash infusion to get them through this difficult time.”

Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, Kingston, N.Y., has pledged $30,000 to local organizations throughout the Hudson Valley to bolster pandemic relief efforts. Recognizing the invaluable work that area non-profits are doing in support of COVID-19 relief, the credit union has partnered with six organizations dealing specifically with food insecurities to provide financial assistance for their efforts.

TopLine Credit Union Foundation, the charitable subsidiary of Topline Credit Union, donated $5,600 to support local nonprofit organizations. TopLine Federal also supports local restaurant owners by purchasing lunches for onsite TopLine Federal employees every Tuesday and Thursday during April.

“In these trying times, our core values remain our foundation: people helping people and people serving people,” says Tom Smith, TopLine Federal president/CEO. “As the coronavirus crisis continues, our shared commitment to helping our communities remains as strong as ever.”
