NCUA Board Member Todd Harper participated in a call with CUNA’s Examination and Supervision Subcommittee Thursday afternoon. The subcommittee, which advises CUNA on the concern for safe, fair and efficient examinations for federal and state credit unions, generally meets via phone at least once a month.
Subcommittee members discussed their current state during the ongoing pandemic, and several brought up actions NCUA could take to help ease current pressures.
Harper, in communications with Congress, has supported several CUNA priorities, including:
Harper, along with NCUA Chairman Rodney Hood, was a supporter of NCUA’s recent decision to allow military personnel to count toward a credit union earning the Low-Income Credit Union designation.
Harper also expressed interest in hearing credit unions’ experiences facilitating Paycheck Protection Program loans from subcommittee members, recognizing the importance that each individual loan represents in the relationship between a credit union and their members and community.
