CUNA’s CreditUnionsVote.com, launched before the first primary of the 2020 cycle, is continually updated with the latest information on how to vote in each state—including options to vote by mail and other accommodations for the COVID-19 health emergency. The site also has information on how credit union members can register to vote, participate in early voting and locate their polling place.
According to recent data, 44% of registered voters belong to a credit union.
“Elections directly affect credit union members, as many of our goals for the future of the credit union movement depend on a continuing credit union friendly majority in Congress,” said CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle. “As voters balance making their voice heard with the need to protect their health amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Credit Unions Vote provides up-to-date information on local policies like vote by mail, shifts in polling locations, and other pertinent information to do one’s civic duty. “
The website also allows users to enter their information and see what candidates are running for office in their jurisdiction and information about them.
Credit unions can use CUNA’s Member Activation Program to reach out to their members with customizable messages and resources. The MAP community contains email templates and other resources, including discussion board to address best practices and other information.
Those who use the website can also share social media posts using the hashtag #CreditUnionsVote to help raise awareness.
