The Senate Banking Committee agreed via voice vote Wednesday to advance the nomination of Kyle Hauptman to serve on the NCUA board. Hauptman was nominated June 15 and testified before the committee July 21.
Hauptman, current economic advisor to Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), would take the seat of current board member J. Mark McWatters.
CUNA historically does not take positions on presidential nominations, but submitted a letter for the hearing featuring Hauptman’s testimony commending NCUA’s recent actions and hoping any future nominee will build on that momentum.
Hauptman’s nomination will now be considered by the full Senate and if confirmed, he would become a board member upon swearing in.
