All credit union supporters win in N.H., R.I. primaries

September 9, 2020
Elections

Credit union supported candidates saw another complete set of victories in primaries in New Hampshire and Rhode Island Tuesday. Candidates were supported by the Cooperative Credit Union League and the Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC), CUNA’s federal political action committee.

In New Hampshire’s Democratic Senate primary, incumbent Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D) defeated two challengers with more than 94% of the vote. She will face Republican challenger Corky Messner in November as she seeks a third term.

Tuesday’s results bring the total wins for credit union-backed candidates in the 2020 cycle to 350, a more than 96% success rate. Detailed state-by-state results can be found at CUNA.org/elections.

With 54 days remaining until November’s election, CUNA launched its latest Member Activation Program (MAP) Campaign last week, urging credit unions to activate their members to vote in November and directing them to CreditUnionsVote.com to find voting information.
