TRACED Act commenters ‘overwhelmingly’ back CUNA position

November 4, 2020
FCC

Commenters on proposed TRACED Act regulatory amendments support CUNA’s position of retaining current exemptions, CUNA wrote to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) this week. CUNA’s comments were sent in reply to a review of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) provisions mandated by the TRACED Act.

“The initial comments demonstrate overwhelming support for retaining the current exemptions, particularly the exemption for commercial informational calls to residential lines, without imposing additional restrictions,” the comments read. “CUNA also supports modest but important revisions to the financial services exigent circumstances exemption for wireless calls. Moreover, a number of commenters support extending to wireless numbers the exemptions currently limited to residential lines, as CUNA has previously advocated.”

CUNA filed its initial TRACED Act comments Oct. 27, saying that the unique credit union-member relationship requires unencumbered communications.
