Federal government funding, NDAA votes set for this week

December 7, 2020
Cap1

Congress is expected to vote on the FY21 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) conference report this week and negotiations continue to fund the federal government past Dec. 11. Funding is scheduled to expire Dec. 11.

The House is expected to consider the NDAA starting Tuesday, with the Senate later in the week. The bill contains CUNA-supported language regarding the Bank Secrecy Act and does not contain a provision related to leases on military bases CUNA, Leagues and the Defense Credit Union Council fought to exclude.

CUNA will also be engaged in the following hearings:

  • Wednesday, 10 a.m. (ET): Senate Finance subcommittee on social security, pensions and family policy hearing, “Investigating Challenges to American Retirement Security;” and
  • Thursday, 10 a.m. (ET): Senate Small Business Committee hearing, “Small Business in Crisis: The 2020 Paycheck Protection Program and its Future.”
