2021 DE training dates announced, scholarships available

December 20, 2020

The National Credit Union Foundation Foundation has announced two DE Training classes in a virtual learning environment, one March 15 to April 9, and another April 26 to May 21. Participants will engage in a mix of on-demand and live learning sessions over four weeks.

Live learning sessions will be held on Mondays and Tuesdays between the hours of 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. (ET) for the duration of training. Registration will begin for March and April DE Training Programs Jan. 12 at 11 a.m. (ET).

Since 1982, the Foundation’s Credit Union Development Education (DE) Program has inspired credit union professionals and advocates to leverage the unique business model of credit unions and serve our members and communities in new and better ways.

While many trainings focus on the “what” and “how” of credit union service and operations, the DE Program focuses on exploring the “why”. Over the course of training, DE participants will engage in lessons focused on the credit union difference, development issues, and empathy. Upon completion of the DE Program, individuals receive their CUDE designation and join thousands of DEs worldwide.

Earlier this year, in order to meet credit unions where they are now, the Foundation transitioned the DE Program to a virtual learning environment. We believe that DE Training is more important now than ever before.

The Foundation will be running two registration cycles in 2021. Programming details, registration information, and scholarship applications for Fall 2021 DE Training will be shared in early June.

Cost & Registration Details

  • The cost to attend DE Training is $2,000 Full payment is required to reserve your spot in a desired session.
  • Registration is limited to one person per organization per class. We have a maximum capacity of 48 US-based participants per session so register early!

Technology Requirements in a Virtual Environment

All participants will need:

  • A high-speed internet connection
  • Access to Zoom
  • A functioning webcam & microphone

If you are interested in attending DE in 2021 (or know someone else who is), email CUDE@ncuf.coop with your name, organization and preferred email to be added to the DE Notification List to be notified when registration opens. If you have any questions, please contact Maggie Wolff, DE Program Manager, at mwolff@ncuf.coop.

The National Credit Union Foundation is proud to support DE scholarships – provided by the DE Scholarship Fund – which offer registration for individuals to attend one of the U.S. DE Programs in 2021. These scholarships are intended to support individuals who may have difficulty finding the necessary funding to attend DE Training. Each scholarship will cover the full cost of attending DE Training in a virtual learning environment.

The application for a scholarship to attend either the March or April DE Training session is now available. Applications will be accepted through Jan. 11

Additional details including DE program eligibility and what to expect in a virtual learning environment can be found on the Foundation's website.
