Nussle talks CUs’ legacy of service, leadership on podcast

January 27, 2021
Jim Nussle

One of the most important things in leadership is listening, CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle told podcast host Todd Marksberry recently. Marksberry, president/CEO of Canvas CU, Lone Tree, Colo., hosted Nussle on his “In the Room” podcast to discuss a variety of topics, including how the credit union legacy of service brought him to CUNA.

“Coming to CUNA, coming to credit unions, was part because I was drawn to a mission-driven organization of people who care about the mission they were on,” Nussle said. “People helping people, which rolls off the tongue very quickly and maybe sounds a bit cliché, but you can go story by story or instance by instance where people across the country in credit unions sit across from their members to try and make things better, to make dreams come true.”

Other topics discussed include how credit unions have gotten stronger during difficult times, how CUNA utilizes its advocacy strength, and why Nussle thinks listening is an essential quality of leadership.
