Former U.S. National Security Advisor, Lt. General H.R. McMaster, to discuss resilience, leadership and more at CUNA GAC

February 2, 2021

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 2, 2021
Washington, D.C.

What should leadership look like in challenging times? How can we foster resilience in an era of unprecedented uncertainty? H.R. McMaster will address those critical topics at Credit Union National Association’s (CUNA) annual CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC), March 2-4, 2021. McMaster served in the White House as National Security Advisor (2017-2018) and is a nationally recognized authority on leadership, global security and international affairs. This keynote session is sponsored by CO-OP Financial Services.

Prior to his time in the White House, McMaster was a commissioned Army officer who rose to the rank of Lieutenant General. During his military tenure, McMaster was widely respected for his ability to assess and strategize in active war zones.

McMaster has been named one of Time’s “100 Most Influential People in the World” and one of Fortune’s “50 World’s Greatest Leaders.” He has been published extensively in Foreign Affairs, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, and additionally, McMaster was an Assistant Professor of History at West Point and wrote two highly regarded books on national security: Battlegrounds and Dereliction of Duty.

“Difficult times have prompted credit unions to take a new look at how we can work together to support the financial well-being of the 120 million Americans we serve,” said Todd Spiczenski, Chief Products Officer at CUNA. “H.R. McMaster has a reputation for developing effective strategies to guide organizations through periods of uncertainty, and we look forward to learning from him.”

Typically held in Washington D.C., this year’s virtual conference will retain the key elements of the in-person conference: thought-provoking speakers, breakout sessions and opportunities to connect with lawmakers, business leaders, and credit union peers from across the nation.
