CUNA’s Manager of Small Credit Union Initiatives Tom Sakash talked to the Credit Union Times about some of the challenges small credit unions are facing right now. The Small Credit Union Committee published The State of Small Credit Unions Today, which outlines some of the challenges and opportunities for small credit unions.
“Twenty years later, it’s about can you be digital enough? Can you be online enough? Do small credit unions have the resources and the know-how to be able to implement the technology that will keep them relevant in the eyes of consumers moving forward?”
The paper builds on research from a 2001 Small Credit Union Committee report which served as a roadmap to preserve and strengthen the small credit union model.
In a separate opinion piece, Sakash also discussed the important role that small credit unions play in the movement, as well as the challenges these institutions face.
