NCUA Chairman Harper to testify before Senate Committee

The House is out for its annual August recess, while the Senate is expected to consider infrastructure legislation and a potential budget resolution this week.

NCUA Chairman Todd Harper will testify before the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee Tuesday, along with other federal financial regulators. The hearing is titled, “Oversight of Regulators: Does our Financial System Work for Everyone?”

The hearing will start Tuesday at 10 a.m. ET.

Other hearings CUNA is engaged with this week include:

  • Tuesday, 10 a.m.ET: Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, “Student Loan Bankruptcy Reform.”
  • Tuesday, 10 a.m. ET: Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee vote on the nomination of former CUNA Senior Director of Advocacy and Counsel Damon Smith to be general counsel for the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
  • Tuesday, 2:30 p.m. ET: Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Protection hearing, “Protecting Consumers from Financial Fraud and Scams in the Pandemic Recovery Economy.”
  • Thursday, 10 a.m. ET: Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee nomination hearing that includes David Uejio as assistant secretary designate, Housing and Urban Development. Uejio is the currency acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
