Both the House and Senate are in recess this week, but several committees in both chambers have scheduled hearings.

The House Armed Services Committee will begin its markup of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2022 Wednesday at 10 a.m. ET.

CUNA has pushed to reject any proposed language that would expand credit unions’ ability to secure waivers for on-base branch costs to for-profit banks. CUNA wrote to the Senate Armed Services Committee in July in advance of its closed markup.

Other hearings CUNA is engaged with this week include:

• Wednesday, noon ET: House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, and Innovation hearing, “Stakeholder Perspectives on the Cyber Incident Reporting for Critical Infrastructure Act of 2021.”
• Wednesday, 1 p.m. ET: House Small Business Committee hearing, “What Comes Next? PPP Forgiveness.”
