Both chambers of Congress are in session this week, and the Senate may consider the fiscal year 2022 National Defense Authorization Act. CUNA will be engaged with several hearings as well.

CUNA has called for the Senate to include the Secure and Fair Enforcement (SAFE) Banking Act and remote notary authorization in its NDAA. Both provisions are in the House-passed version of the bill.

Hearings CUNA is engaged with this week include:

  • Wednesday, 10 a.m. ET; House Financial Services Committee hearing, “Digital Assets and the Future of Finance: Understanding the Challenges and Benefits of Financial Innovation in the United States.”
  • Thursday, 9:30 a.m. ET: Senate Special Committee on Aging hearing, “Financial Literacy: Addressing the Unique Just-in-Time Decisions Older Americans and People with Disabilities Face.”
  • Thursday, 10 a.m. ET: Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee hearing, "Disaster Recovery Assistance - Authorization of the Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery Program."
  • Thursday, 11 a.m. ET: House Financial Services Subcommittee on Diversity and Inclusion hearing, “A Review of Diversity and Inclusion Performance at America’s Large Investment Firms.”
