President Joe Biden nominated Sandra Thompson Tuesday to serve as director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency. Thompson has served as FHFA acting director since Biden appointed her in June following the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling that the president can remove the FHFA director at will.
CUNA has met with Thompson repeatedly during her tenure as acting director on credit union housing finance priorities, but does not take a position on presidential nominations.
Thompson was deputy director of the FHFA’s Division of Housing Mission and Goals prior to being named acting director.
