The Tennessee Credit Union League recapped a successful 2021 in advocacy detailing credit union wins at the federal and state level.
“The past year saw many legislative victories for credit unions. Credit union advocates were prepared, ready and active throughout 2021 and made a big difference,” wrote Sarah Waters, vice president of government affairs for the Tennessee Credit Union League.
Successes in 2021 includes defeating problematic state interchange legislation for the second straight year, successfully amending lien priority legislation and more.
The Tennessee League also was instrumental in removal of expanded Internal Revenue Service reporting requirements and keeping a bank-led expansion of the credit union-Department of Defense arrangement out of this year’s National Defense Authorization Act.
