CUNA announced Saturday that Kevin Carroll will be the keynote speaker for Monday at the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference.
Carroll replaces noted chef and humanitarian José Andrés who has traveled to Poland to work with his nonprofit World Central Kitchen (WCK) to aid the growing number of displaced Ukrainians.
“José Andrés truly embodies the ‘people helping people’ philosophy, and while we’re sorry to miss him, we’re thrilled Kevin is able to join us with his inspiring message designed to help us all move forward in pursuit of greatness,” said CUNA Chief Products and Services Officer Todd Spiczenski.
Growing up in Philadelphia, Carroll felt lost in a rough and tumble world. But that changed when he discovered his own inner strength and the power of the “red rubber ball," a metaphor for the power of play, and the pursuit of one’s personal best.
We all need a “why,” Carroll says, or a driving force that propels us forward.
Carroll’s background includes a decade in the Air Force, time as a trainer with the Philadelphia 76ers, and a seven-year stint with Nike—which created a position specifically for him and where Carroll earned his “Katalyst” nickname.
He later started The Katalyst Consultancy and has dedicated his life to advancing sports and play as a vehicle for social change and a way to show others how to chase their own “red rubber ball.” Carroll is also the author of four books, which build on these life-affirming themes.
