Credit union CEO to testify at overdraft hearing this week

The House and Senate are both in session this week. The House will consider, under suspension of the rules, retirement and cannabis related legislation, while the Senate will resume consideration of H.R. 4521, the United States Innovation and Competition Act (H.R. 4521).

UW Credit Union President/CEO Paul Kundert will testify before the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Financial Institutions during a hearing titled, “The End of Overdraft Fees? Examining the Movement to Eliminate the Fees Costing Consumers Billions.”

Other hearings CUNA will also be engaged in this week include:

  • Tuesday, 10 a.m. ET, House Budget Committee hearing: “The President's Fiscal Year 2023 Budget.”
  • Tuesday, 10 a.m. ET: House Committee Small Business Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax, and Capital Access hearing: “Catalyzing Economic Growth through SBA Community-Based Lending.”
  • Tuesday, 10 a.m. ET: Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee hearing: “Economic Impact of the Growing Burden of Medical Debt."
  • Tuesday, 10 a.m. ET: House Committee on Financial Services hearing: “Devalued, Denied, and Disrespected: How Home Appraisal Bias and Discrimination Are Hurting Homeowners and Communities of Color.”
  • Wednesday, 10 a.m. ET: House Committee on Financial Services Artificial Intelligence Task Force hearing: “Keeping Up with the Codes – Using AI for Effective RegTech.”
  • Wednesday, 11 a.m. ET: Senate Budget Committee hearing: “The President's Fiscal Year 2023 Budget Proposal."
  • Wednesday, 2 p.m. ET: House Committee on Financial Services Subcommittee on Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship, and Capital Markets hearing: “Oversight of America's Stock Exchanges: Examining Their Role in Our Economy.”
  • Thursday, 10 a.m. ET: Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee hearing: "Affordability and Accessibility: Addressing the Housing Needs of America’s Seniors."
  • Thursday, 10 a.m. ET: House Financial Services Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Financial Institutions hearing: “The End of Overdraft Fees? Examining the Movement to Eliminate the Fees Costing Consumers Billions.”
