Fifteen credit union supporters win in Maine, Nevada, N.D., S.C.

Credit union champions claimed 15 primary race victories in Maine, Nevada, North Dakota, and South Carolina. Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC) and state leagues have backed 180 credit union-friendly candidates this cycle with a 98% success rate.

In Nevada, CULAC and the California and Nevada Credit Union League supported five successful candidates, including: 

  • Rep. Dina Titus, D, who defeated challenger Amy Vilela in the 1st District with 82% of the vote.
  • Rep. Mark Amodei, R, defeated Douglas County Commissioner Danny Tarkanian with 54% of the vote.
  • Rep. Susie Lee, D, who defeated challenger Randell Hynes with 89% of the vote in the newly drawn 3rd District. Lee was one of 21 Democratic House members who wrote in opposition of expanded Internal Revenue Service reporting requirements.

In Maine, North Dakota, and South Carolina, CULAC and state Leagues backed seven succesful11 candidates who won Tuesday, including Rep. Nancy Mace, R-01. Nancy Mace, R, who took 53.1% of the vote.

CULAC is one of the five largest trade association PACs and among the most bipartisan PACs in the country. CULAC works with state leagues to identify, vet, and back congressional candidates who support credit unions and the CUNA-League system’s efforts to promote financial well-being for all.
