CFPB director testimony, crypto collapse hearings this week

The House and Senate are in session this week, and the Senate will consider nominations and the FY2023 National Defense Authorization Act. Federal government funding is also scheduled to expire at midnight Friday, and members of Congress continue to negotiate on finding legislation.

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Director Rohit Chopra is scheduled to testify before the House Financial Services Committee Wednesday at 10 a.m. (ET), and before the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee Thursday.

Other hearings CUNA is engaged with this week include:

  • Tuesday, 10 a.m. ET: House Financial Services Committee hearing, “Investigating the Collapse of FTX, Part I.”
  • Tuesday, 2:30 p.m. ET: Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Subcommittee on Securities, Insurance, and Investment hearing, “Examining How Capital Markets Serve Diverse Entrepreneurs and Investors.”
  • Wednesday, 10 a.m. ET: Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee hearing, "Crypto Crash: Why the FTX Bubble Burst and the Harm to Consumers."
