Build credit union monetary oversight expertise at CUNA Financial Management School

January 10, 2023
Credit union finance 101

Before they have to make tough financial decisions, credit union leaders can learn financial management skills and latest trends by attending CUNA Financial Management School, Apr. 17-20 in Dallas.

“Credit union finance experts will walk through the details and decisions involved in running a financially successful credit union,” said Amanda Schumacher, instructional design manager at CUNA. “Experience the hands-on environment of working with a team through financial scenarios to help apply these learnings outside of the classroom.”

Three tracks are offered:

  • Essentials: Appropriate for those new to finance or with limited financial background, financial basics (such as balance sheets and financial ratios) will be the focus.
  • Advanced: Take your financial knowledge to the next step. Help advance your career by building upon your finance background to discuss topics such as ALM and risk at your credit union.
  • Update: This track is brand new this year, appropriate for C-suite, financial decision makers or anyone interested in current financial trends. It features a culmination of the latest financial trends and interpreted by highly credible NCUA, CUNA and credit union CEO speakers.

“With the competition from other traditional financial organizations and nontraditional organizations offering financial services, it’s important for staff (not just financial) to be confident in their financial knowledge and decision-making,” said Schumacher.
