Small Credit Union Committee meets with NCUA vice chair

January 10, 2023
NCUALogo

CUNA’s Small Credit Union Committee met with NCUA Vice Chairman Kyle Hauptman, his staff, and Director of the Office of Examination and Insurance Kelly Lay Tuesday.

“The NCUA has been supportive of finding issues that could help address regulatory burden, and the Committee has shared small but actionable and impactful measures that could make a difference for organizations with tight margins and limited resources,” said Tom Sakash, CUNA’s manager of small credit union initiatives.

Credit unions discussed record retention, policy review, and examiner consistency, among other topics.

Tuesday’s meeting was a follow up to a previous discussion held between the committee and Hauptman in October, with Hauptman wishing to get NCUA staff in a meeting to directly hear from Small Credit Union Committee members.
