Outgoing CUNA Board Chair Tony Budet called his term an “honor and a privilege” at CUNA’s Annual General Meeting Monday at the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC). Budet, CEO of University Federal Credit Union in Austin, Texas, also thanked his fellow board members for their leadership and commitment to the credit union movement.
Budet credited CUNA, Leagues, and credit unions with major advocacy wins over the past year, as well as the CUNA-League system for being named the most effective trade association in Washington, D.C., across all industries.
“This is a testament to the unprecedented ability and determination by your trade association to ensure credit unions operate in environments, both here and in your respective states, supportive of your efforts to serve your members and communities,” Budet said.
He shared his experiences with the international credit union movement during his career—and time on the CUNA Board—and recalled how he was, “inspired by the many meaningful and innovative ways the cooperative movement helps people around the world.
“Those international efforts, combined with the collaborative superpowers exhibited here in the U.S. between credit unions, Leagues, and CUNA, are impressive and hugely impactful,” he added.
The Annual General Meeting also included election of the 2023-24 CUNA Board of Directors, which will be announced Tuesday morning.
