STARTING STUFFED SNOWBALL FIGHTS. Singing and dancing. Handing out popcorn. That’s a typical Friday at Royal Credit Union in Eau Claire, Wis., thanks in part to Amy Forcier-Pabst, who was recently promoted to executive vice president of member experience.
Her colleague, Jan Johnson, executive vice president of organizational agility, has a simpler title for Forcier-Pabst. “Amy is our culture champion,” says Johnson.
Forcier-Pabst, who has been with Royal Credit Union for 17 years and most recently served as program director of organizational alignment, believes that happy team members equal happy members. She sets out every day to create an encouraging workplace culture so members can feel energized as well.
“I choose my attitude every minute of every day,” says Forcier-Pabst. “I set the tone for all team members, and I always strive for Royal to have an inviting, fun culture that becomes contagious.”
Forcier-Pabst says she gets inspired and brainstorms ideas through “constantly reading, following Twitter and LinkedIn, researching, and observing other businesses.”
“The minute something catches my eye or resonates with me, I think, ‘How can I bring this to Royal?’” Forcier-Pabst says. “‘What outcomes do I want? How will this benefit us, and will it align with our purpose, values, and strategic direction?’”
“Amy drives alignment throughout the organization according to our core purposes, values, and commitment to an exceptional member experience,” Johnson adds. “She holds others and herself accountable through a very creative style that instills continuous learning.”
Even if it means a double-take here and there. Forcier-Pabst seems willing to do most anything to create an enjoyable workplace experience. “We do Friday Fun Fairy Days where I will grab trainers, human resources staff, or other leaders and we go around our corporate center doing crazy, fun things,” Forcier-Pabst says.
“On Wednesday mornings,” she continues, “we’ve been known to put pillows under our shirts to look like we have humps on our backs and greet everyone by saying, ‘Happy Hump Day.’"
“I’m so passionate about service, team members, alignment, and Royal, that I think I could get trees to dance,” says Forcier-Pabst.
