MARLBOROUGH, Mass. (1/5/15)--The state credit union leagues of Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire have officially merged into one entity: The Cooperative Credit Union Association.
Under the new organization, which went into effect Jan. 1, governance will be consolidated into one structure, while each of the three states will keep their respective branding efforts.
Locally and in their advocacy and community-based initiatives, credit unions will still be called "Massachusetts Credit Unions," "New Hampshire Credit Unions" or "Credit Unions of Rhode Island."
Credit unions in all three states also will carry the common tagline of "Creating Cooperative Power."
"Built on the bedrock of years of cooperation and trust between the credit unions of all three states, expect to see a lot of activity and communications in the days and months to come," the association said in a press release.
"Whether it's legislative or regulatory advocacy, educational and career development programming, informational gatherings where we can exchange views and opinions with the leaders of our movement, or a new annual association conference and trade show where we will celebrate our distinguished heritage as one united body, it is important to know that your Cooperative Credit Union Association pledges to be your vigilant advocate and supporter," the association said.
