W.Va. league elects board, exec committee

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (4/29/15)--The West Virginia Credit Union League elected its 2015-16 board officers and announced the recipients of its annual awards at the organization's recent annual meeting in Charleston, W. Va.

Carol M. Johnson, manager of CWV Tel FCU, Clarksburg, W. Va., was re-elected chair.

Other board officers elected include:
  • First vice chair: Lynne Teets, clerk/loan officer, Whetelco FCU, Wheeling;
  • Second vice chair: Edgar Cosner, CEO, The United FCU, Morgantown;
  • Treasurer: Mike Tucker, president/CEO, WV Central CU, Parkersburg; and
  • Secretary: Joetta Heck, CEO, Kemba Charleston FCU, Dunbar.
During the league's business meeting, Tom Walker, Universal FCU, Huntington, W.Va., received the William Bryan Hawkins Award, the league's highest volunteer honor. Walker has been active in the credit union movement in various capacities for over 50 years.

Bob Adkins, One Community FCU, Parkersburg, W.Va., received the Pacesetter Award, reflecting excellence among paid credit union staff in West Virginia. Adkins was the first credit union professional in the nation to receive the Credit Union Compliance Expert (CUCE) designation, awarded by CUNA.
