ONTARIO, Calif. (11/4/14)--The California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues announced new board executive committees during the recent annual meeting and convention.
Jon Hernandez, president/CEO, CalCom FCU, Torrance, with $64 million in assets, and Mattel FCU, El Segundo, $31 million in assets, was named board chair. Hernandez also serves as interim CEO for $69 million-asset Nikkei CU, Gardena.
Wally Murray, CEO, Greater Nevada CU, Carson City, with $474 million in assets, is the Nevada league's new board chair.
Elected as vice chair for the California league was Chuck Papenfus, president/CEO, Inland Valley FCU, Fontana, with $38 million in assets; at-large committee member is Hank Barrett, president/CEO, Valley First CU, Modesto, with $528 million in assets; and immediate past Chair Teresa Freeborn, president/CEO, Xceed Financial FCU, El Segundo, with $851 million in assets, will serve as ex officio.
Other board members for the California league are: Teresa Halleck, San Diego County CU, with $6.5 billion in assets; Eileen Rivera, SkyOne FCU, Hawthorne, with $427 million in assets; Chris Coursen, Fairview Employees FCU, Costa Mesa, with $13 million in assets; Bill Birnie, Eagle Community CU, Lake Forest, with $222 million in assets; Marla Shepard, California Coast CU, San Diego, with $1.8 billion in assets; Jeff York, CoastHills CU, Lompoc, with $740 million in assets; and Brett Martinez, Redwood CU, Santa Rosa, with $2.3 billion in assets.
The Nevada league committee includes Vice Chair Eric Estes, Boulder Dam CU, Boulder City, with $502 million in assets; and Secretary/Treasurer Dennis Flannigan, Great Basin FCU, Reno, with $129 million in assets. Directors are Rick Schmidt, WestStar CU, Las Vegas, with $138 million in assets; and Wayne Tew, Clark County CU, Las Vegas, with $520 million in assets.
