DANA POINT, Calif. (2/25/15)--The California and Nevada Credit Unions for Kids Wine Auction, one of the most productive fundraising events for Children's Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals, brought in more than $1 million in donated funds this year--a new record for the event.
More than 425 attendees poured into the Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort and Spa in Dana Point, Calif., on Feb. 20 for the auction, which was supported by more than 80 credit unions, businesses and hospitals.
A private donation of $200,000 also was made during the event by Eric Day, board member with Credit Union of Southern California, Anaheim, Calif., in honor of Martha Eileen Sheff.
"Through the incredible efforts and generosity of our sponsors, donors and volunteers, we have set a new milestone of support for the 11 Children's Hospitals in California and Nevada," said Jeff York, event chair and president/CEO of CoastHills CU, Lompoc, Calif. "Children's Miracle Network Hospitals is a special cause for credit unions."
The sponsors of the event were the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues, CU Direct, CO-OP Financial Services and CUNA Mutual Group. As sponsors, each organization paid for all operating costs associated with running the auction.
Thanks to those funds, all money raised at the auction will go directly to CMN Hospitals in California and Nevada.
Since 2006, the wine auction has raised more than $3.6 million for CMN Hospitals.
