WASHINGTON (9/25/14)--The U.S. Department of the Treasury's Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund is seeking comments on its Capacity Building Initiative (CBI). The initiative is designed to provide training and technical assistance on issues impacting CDFIs.
At the end of 2013, 177 credit unions were among 811 active CDFIs.
CDFIs, trade groups and members of the general public are invited to provide written comments on the CBI.
Specific comments are requested on the following questions:
CBI training and technical assistance is designed to help CDFIs to deliver financial products and services to underserved communities, usually in the form of place-based training workshops, technical assistance, webinars, training curricula and research reports.
Topics of training include portfolio management, capitalization strategies, minority depository institutions, emerging CDFIs and small business and microfinance lending, among others.
