Fair lending, HMDA compliance highlights of NCUA webinar

February 2, 2015

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (2/3/15)--February is a busy month for free webinars at the National Credit Union Administration. The agency just added a "Fair Lending and HMDA (Home Mortgage Disclosure Act) Compliance" session to its calendar.

During this Feb. 20, 2 p.m. (ET) webinar,  participants will get an overview of the agency's fair lending examination program from Gail Laster and Matthew Biliouris, who are director and deputy director respectively of the NCUA's Office of Consumer Protection.

Laster, Bilouris and their staff also will outline best practices intended to help credit unions of all asset sizes better comply with fair lending requirements. The webinar will also provide information on HMDA reporting requirements, as well as the most common reporting errors made by credit unions.

The fair lending webinar joins previously announced NCUA educational sessions on Truth in Lending Act (TILA) and the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) disclosures on Feb. 11, and another on opportunities in underserved markets on Feb. 18.

Participants may submit questions in advance of the webinars at WebinarQuestions@ncua.gov. The subject line of the email should refer to the appropriate session, for instance, "Fair Lending Webinar."

This webinar will be closed-captioned and then archived online approximately three weeks following the live events.

NCUA's Office of Consumer Protection is responsible for consumer compliance policy and rulemaking, fair lending examinations and interagency coordination on consumer compliance matters.
