ALEXANDRIA, Va. (9/24/14)--More than 90,000 pounds of food was donated by National Credit Union Administration employees nationwide through the annual Feds Feed Families food drive. The agency announced from June to August it collected 92,950 pounds of food, the first year all NCUA offices and regions participated.
NCUA Chair Debbie Matz called the outcome "truly amazing" and noted that this year's amount equals roughly 62,000 meals, 321% above the number of meals donated last year. Nearly 76 pounds per employee was donated, and the amount is enough to feed 55 people three meals a day for an entire year, according to the agency.
This was the sixth year for the Feds Feed Families food drive. During its first five years, 24.1 million pounds of food and other non-perishable items were collected.
