WASHINGTON (3/13/15)--Credit unions' philosophy, service and dedication to financial education were on display Wednesday during the CUNA awards reception held at the end of the Governmental Affairs Conference.

The exceptional efforts of nearly 60 credit unions were recognized with Louise Herring Philosophy-in-Action Member Service Awards, Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Awards or Desjardins Youth and Adult Financial Education Awards.
John Graham, chair of the CUNA Awards Committee and president/CEO of Kentucky Employees CU, Frankfort, Ky., kicked off the event before turning it over to CUNA's Chief Engagement Officer Susan Newton.
CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle said, "Hearing about the great works of these great not-for-profit, member-owned financial institutions reminds all of us reminds all of us about the uniqueness of America's credit unions and the important role they play in their members' lives and in their communities."
CUNA received more than 200 entries from credit unions--all of which were winners in their respective states.
