ALEXANDRIA, Va. (2/5/15)--As sought by CUNA, live video of monthly open National Credit Union Administration meetings will now be streamed online, the agency announced Wednesday, starting with the Feb. 19 meeting.
"CUNA thanks NCUA for listening to credit unions by streaming open board meetings," said Jim Nussle, CUNA president/CEO. "CUNA called for the agency to livestream these meetings to ensure the credit union community is able to see and hear its regulator, and we're pleased our call was answered."
NCUA Chair Debbie Matz said that anyone interested in the proceedings of the agency's board meetings can log in and "get an immediate sense of how regulations and other policy decisions are made."
CUNA requested live video streaming in advance of the January board meeting, where the NCUA's revised risk-based capital proposal was unveiled. While agency staff was not able to acommodate streaming from the January meeting, CUNA and others were allowed to record the proceedings.
CUNA encourages credit union officials to register and view the monthly meetings.
Registration to watch the Feb. 19 meeting is now open. Live captioning will be provided during each meeting. According to the NCUA, participants will need to register for each meeting, and a new registration link will be provided for each one.
Participants will receive a confirmation email containing a link they can use to log into the live stream. Participants are encouraged to try that link prior to the meeting, so they can test their computers' ability to stream the event.
Archived video of each meeting will continue to be posted to the agency's website.
