WASHINGTON (3/24/15)--With both the U.S. Senate and House in session this week, CUNA has a number of meetings on its radar, including markups of regulatory relief bills and a data security and breach notification bill, as well as budget resolutions and several hearings.
Both the Senate and House will have budget resolutions on the floor this week. The House will consider a budget resolution from the House Budget Committee, as well as several alternative budgets.
The Senate will engage in an open amendment process, which CUNA Chief Advocacy Officer Ryan Donovan said is likely to end with a "vote-a-rama," a series of votes on various amendments where senators will often cast symbolic votes.
"We'll be paying close attention to the Senate floor this week to see what might pop up," Donovan said.
As previously reported in News Now, starting today the House Energy and Commerce subcommittee on commerce, manufacturing and trade will markup the Data Security and Breach Notification Act.
