During a recent corporate event, 540 Royal CU team members spent 60 minutes on one of 19 projects the credit union had undertaken to benefit more than 25 area organizations.
Prior to the event, called "The Power of an Hour," participants collected nearly $2,000 in cash and other items that were used to make the service projects.
The team members then worked on the projects, which had to be completed in under an hour.
Projects included assembling toiletry baskets for homeless shelters, making fleece dog beds for animal rescues, creating thank-you cards for active-duty military and packaging craft kits for after-school programs.
"Our young professionals group contacted the organizations, created the projects and developed a list of needed supplies," said Andrea Finn, Royal CU digital marketing specialist and president of Royal's Young Professionals group. "We sent a call for donations to all RCU team members, and their response was amazing."
