MARLBOROUGH, HabitatMass. (5/28/15)--During National Women Build Week, female employees at credit unions worked on Habitat for Humanity homes in their communities. Two teams of women from Greylock FCU, Pittsfield, Mass., worked on the 28th home built by Central Berkshire Habitat for Humanity. “The Greylock women who participated are examples of Greylock's commitment to building community and our people being there for our neighbors,” said Marilyn Sperling, Greylock FCU president/CEO (Daily CU Scan May 26). In Billerica, Mass., a crew of women volunteers from Align CU worked on the interior of a single-family, handicapped-accessible home. "The women of Align CU are strong ambassadors,” said Ken Del Rossi, president/CEO of the Lowell, Mass.-based credit union (Daily CU Scan May 27). From May 2 to 10, roughly 15,000 women volunteered at least one day at the more than 1,600 Habitat for Humanity Women Build houses nationwide. Among other participating credit unions were Ent FCU, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Dow Chemical Employees CU, Midland, Mich. LOVES PARK, Ill. (5/28/15)--Rock Valley CU is helping Rochelle, Ill., to recover after it was hit by tornadoes April 9. The Loves Park, Ill.-based credit union has a branch in Rochelle. The day after the storm, the credit union collected $1,500 in donations from members, employees and the community. The funds went to the Rochelle Area Community Foundation, which has received more than $300,000 to distribute to cleanup and recovery efforts ...

SAN FRANCISCO and LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (5/28/15)--The board of Rainbow FCU, Lewiston, Maine, announced that Mark Samson will succeed Phil Moreau as president/CEO. Samson joined Rainbow FCU in 2012 as executive vice president of lending. In addition to his 25 years of experience in financial services, Samson is a former Maine state legislator. Moreau is retiring this year after 44 years at Rainbow FCU. In Leavenworth, Kan., Frontier Community CU President/CEO Bill Hauber retired in April after 25 years with the credit union. Executive Vice President Mike Augustine succeeded Hauber as president/CEO. “Bill served not only the members of Frontier Community CU, he volunteered his time and expertise to help other credit unions around the state of Kansas,” said Marla Marsh, president/CEO of the Kansas Credit Union Association. Hauber also worked at Mainstreet CU, Lenexa, and Midwest Regional CU, Kansas City, and as financial examiner for the Kansas Department of Credit Unions ...
