Pa. CUs swarm State Capitol

June 19, 2015

HARRISBURG, Pa. (6/19/15)--More than 100 Pennsylvania lawmakers hosted credit union advocates in their offices this week as the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association held its annual Credit Union Legislative Day at the Capitol in Harrisburg (Life is a Highway June 17).

More than 120 credit union professionals and volunteers from 42 credit unions spent the day at the Capitol wearing their iBelong buttons and informing their representatives about the matters important to the credit union movement.

“Pennsylvania credit unions were extremely visible throughout the Capitol the entire day,” said Patrick Conway, PCUA president/CEO, adding, “Our presence was felt and our message was heard.”

Conway also noted that all of the elected officials were very supportive of Pennsylvania’s credit unions, as they recognize the positive impact credit unions make on their communities.

Credit union supporters also could follow the day’s events online this year. Legislative Day made a sizable mark on social media.

PCUA staffers tweeted throughout the day, as did many young professionals in attendance. Some of the highlights can be seen below.
