Consumers taste #TheCUWay in Denver

Promotional event at CU conference spreads the CU message.

CUNA, working with the Mountain West Credit Union Association, organized a local Denver food truck to serve as an edible billboard for credit unions at the combined America's Credit Union Conference and World Credit Union Conference.

Hungry grazers chose one of three taco options at Mike’s 2 Kitchen truck, which featured credit union signs and banners. The tacos were wrapped with branded napkins that said, “brought to you by America’s Credit Unions.”

The napkins direct consumers to aSmarterChoice.org, where they can learn how credit unions are different from banks and find a credit union to join.

  "We gave away 1,000 tacos in under two hours," said Patti Hazlett, director of corporate communications at Mountain West Credit Union Association. People were receptive to the message and grateful for the lunch, she added.

The event has been publicized on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Periscope using the @asmarterchoice handle and #theCUway hashtag.
