Juanita Whiteside

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (8/19/15)--Juanita Whiteside, president/CEO and 37-year employee of Otero FCU, died last week after a long battle with breast cancer. She was 63. Among her many accomplishments at the Alamogordo, N.M.-based credit union, Whiteside is credited with overseeing Otero’s transition into a modern facility, and helping the credit union take the plunge into social media. Under her leadership, the credit union also was placed on a list of the top 200 healthiest credit unions in America. Whiteside also served on the board of the Credit Union Association of New Mexico, in addition to the association’s governmental affairs committee and governance task force. “She was the finest person that walked on Earth,” said Dave Sheppard, Otero FCU board chair. “I am very happy I had the opportunity to hire Juanita. It was one of the best hiring decisions we ever made” …

CostaHANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. (8/19/15)--Tony Costa, financial control specialist for Hanscom FCU, Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., celebrated his 40th anniversary with the credit union this week. During an event held by the credit union in honor of the anniversary, Costa talked about how the credit union has evolved since he first started. “There were two member service people, the manager, and me (when I was hired),” Costa said. “Now we have five people just in the finance department.” Costa (right) accepts congratulations from David Sprague, president/CEO, Hanscom FCU …
