America First CU hosts blogging event

September 2, 2015

RIVERDALE, Utah (9/2/15)--In its ongoing effort to find new ways to connect with members, America First CU held a “blogger brunch” in August featuring a number of local bloggers. America First reached out to bloggers covering everything from parenting to home décor to get marketing ideas.

“We’re always looking at ways we can maximize any potential partnership, so this was an opportunity to look at ways we can help these bloggers,” Nicole Cypers, public relations and social media manager for the Riverdale, Utah-based credit union, told News Now.

“They can share stories about how they reach audiences, who their followers are, and how to come up with ideas. They came ready to participate and engage, and we got some very good insight that we’ll likely be incorporating into our marketing strategy going forward.”

Cypers estimated that about half of the bloggers were America First CU members.

“We’ve worked with some bloggers before. One member, Leanne Jacobs, runs a blog called Organize & Decorate Everything, and we’ve worked with her on posts before about managing money and setting financial goals,” she said.

“She lived in Utah, but had to relocate to Las Vegas a few years ago, and was worried about finding a new financial institution. But we have branches in Clark County, and we found she didn’t even have to open a new account, which made her life easier during a difficult transition,”Cypers said.

America First already has Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest accounts. Cypers said this event was another way for the credit union to examine non-traditional ideas for reaching out to the community.
