Texas CU Ride tour benefits Children's Medical Center
FARMERS BRANCH, Texas (9/17/15)--Six Fort Worth, Texas-based credit unions and the Cornerstone Credit Union League participated in a CU Ride tour Tuesday to benefit a local Children’s Miracle Network hospital and a homeless shelter (Leaguer Sept 16).
First Class American CU hosted the ride from its location to the Cook Children’s Medical Center. Other credit unions participating included: EECU, Members Choice FCU, Tarrant County’s CU, Texas People CU and Texas Trust CU.
The group comprised 10 motorcycle riders, six credit union-wrapped cars, two classic vehicles and about six to eight other drivers. They delivered more than 400 stuffed animals collected by First Class American, the league, Texas Trust and EECU to the hospital.
First Class American CU staff also raised $143 by selling slices of cake and served hotdogs and sausage dogs to participants. With the leftovers, the credit union fed about 75 people at the Fort Worth homeless shelter, said the league.
League Executive Vice President Karen Hart led the CU Ride tour as part of the Credit Unions Care Campaign. “We definitely turned heads in downtown with all our red shirts, bikes and credit union cars,” she said.
