Missoula FCU ‘green’ leadership continues with investment in local college
MISSOULA, Mont. (9/28/15)--Recognizing both the growing importance of renewable energy in the region and the rising need for trained professionals in the renewable energy sector, Missoula (Mont.) FCU has pledged $53,000 to fund an energy technology lab at Missoula College.
It’s appears to be a sound investment in the community for the credit union. The college’s Energy Technology Program is thriving. The program recently received a Montana Innovator Award from Gov. Steve Bullock for the college’s role in introducing students to energy systems and technology, including renewable energy technologies and carbon pollution migration strategies.
Missoula FCU has a history of leading by example in green construction and renewable energy. In 2009, the credit union opened a branch that was first Platinum LEED Certified building in Missoula. A current remodel of another branch includes a 40kW photovoltaic array that will help the credit union offset rising energy prices in the future. Solar panels can also be found on the credit union’s corporate training center.
