GLENDORA, Calif. (10/13/15)--For the third consecutive year, America’s Christian CU has been named as one of the 100 best adoption-friendly workplaces by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. The Glendora, Calif.-based credit union ranked eighth in the small business category and is tied for 92nd among all organizations nationwide. The foundation determines the rankings by analyzing each company’s adoption benefits, including the maximum financial reimbursement and the amount of paid leave provided for employees who adopt. DES MOINES, Iowa (10/13/15)--The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) of Iowa named Coopera CEO Miriam De Dios as Latino Business Person of the Year. De Dios will be honored for her work improving the financial lives of Latinos at LULAC’s Oct. 31 banquet. Murray Williams, chief operating officer of the Iowa Credit Union League and chief administrative officer of Coopera’s parent company, Affiliates Management Co., nominated De Dios for the award. “The impact made by Miriam and Coopera on the credit union industry and Latino community has been tremendous,” he said. “There is no better way to reflect credit unions’ people-helping-people philosophy than through the significant work Miriam is leading.” Coopera’s founder, Warren Morrow, will be honored posthumously at the event.
