NWCUA reorganizes board, elects exec officers

SEATAC, Wash., and TIGARD, Ore. (10/16/15)--With its membership’s support for a new governance model, the Northwestern Credit Union Association (NWCUA) board has evolved to a more streamlined, nine-member at-large board from an 11-member, geographical and asset-sized governance model.

The restructuring took effect during the NWCUA’s annual business meeting during the Amplify Convention in Portland, Ore., last week.

The Northwestern Credit Union Foundation (NWCUF) also announced the results of its board officer elections at the meeting.

Jack Fallis, president/CEO of Spokane, Wash.-based Global CU, was re-elected to serve a second year as board chair for NWCUA.

Brooke Van Vleet, president/CEO, St. Helens Community CU, St. Helens, Ore., was elected vice chair.

Serving as secretary/treasurer for the 2015-2016 term will be John Zmolek, president/CEO, Verity CU, Seattle.

Two members of the 2014-15 board of directors concluded their board service at the annual business meeting and were honored with proclamations.

Phil Jones, president/CEO of Harborstone CU, Lakewood, Wash., a member of the NWCUA board for six years, was praised for his stewardship.

Tom Griffith, CEO of Pacific NW FCU, Portland, was honored for a financial services background that included roles as an accountant, controller and chief financial officer before he became a CEO.

Van Vleet and Debie Keesee, CEO of Spokane (Wash.) Media FCU, were re-elected to the board for upcoming year.

The other members of the NWCUA 2015-2016 board of directors are:

  • Parker Cann, senior vice president and general counsel, BECU, Tukwila, Wash.;
  • Bert Fisher, CEO, Our Community CU, Shelton, Wash.;
  • Jim Lumpkin, president/CEO, USAgencies CU, Portland;
  • Bob Newcomb, CEO, SELCO Community CU, Eugene, Ore.; and
  • Mina Worthington, CEO/president, Solarity CU, Yakima, Wash.

Barbara Mathey, president/CEO, IBEW & United Workers FCU, Portland, was elected to serve as 2015-2016 chair of the NWCUF board.

Shelli Millhuff, president/CEO, Nordstrom FCU, Seattle, will serve as vice chair of the NWCUF board. Kyle Frick, vice president/marketing, Mid Oregon CU, Bend, Ore., will serve as treasurer, and Jane Parker, human resource director, Woodstone CU, Federal Way, Wash., continues to serve as secretary.
